Bubblegum fun!

HAPPY EASTER!  I've mentioned before, but I'll say it again...I LOVE EASTER...especially the colors of Easter.  Made another card using this week's CAS(E) this Sketch

Here's the sketch...

Stamp set is from The Stamps of Life bubblegum4me...doesn't it make you want to chew on gum?  After coloring each gumball I started to crave for one...lol!

And a closeup...

Found another cute little blog challenge with a chance to be a Guest Designer over at 3 Girl Jam!  Crossing my fingers as this sounds like an awesome opportunity!  If you're interested click on over and join the fun!   The prize is a gift certificate to their store and who doesn't love shopping?!

Also since this fits the Tuesday Trigger over at Moxie Fab World I thought I'd submit another card!

Feeling accomplished this weekend, but there's still more crafting ahead with my daughter's birthday favors and favors for her performance choir show needing to get done!  Stay tuned for pics!

Easter treat!

From my blog you wouldn't be able to tell it, but I LOVE making favors with paper!  I can recall my mom always making little goodie bags for my cousins and classmates for every holiday and now I'm continuing the tradition for my little ones.  Today I decided to upcycle a container to make an Easter treat.

My poor son's Easter basket was looking a little empty since my daughter's is filled with a bunch of girly things like lipgloss, hair ties and even some nail polish.  He's not much into toys as he just simply enjoys running around.  Next to running, would be his love for chocolate so this treat container is for him!

Wrapped the bottom of the container with die cut grass using Lawn Fawn's Pink Lemonade paper and added some copic colored Easter eggs from LF's Happy Easter.  For the lid wrapped the edges of lid and top with a woodgrain pattern washi tape and placed the various fussy cut images.  Of course I wanted to add sparkle and ribbon, but since it was for my son I decided to keep it simple.

Thought the bunny (even curled its ears for a little dimension) coming out of the hat was kinda fun so this will be entered into CAS-ual Fridays: Funny Bunny Challenge as well as Tuesday Trigger for Moxie Fab World

I just LOVE Easter...I have such fond memories of Easter egg hunts and fun treat baskets!  Here's a pic of the completed treat container...I love how the washi tape covers the lid!

HAPPY EASTER!

Birthday Ombre

Goodness it feels like I haven't crafted in forever.  Finally recovering from my cold, work has been crazy as we're down 3 nurses and the kids have been on spring break.  Let me just say at the end of the day I have no energy!  This weekend starts off with my mom's 60th birthday, followed by Easter, then my daughter turns 7 towards the end of the week, and then my b-day is the day after!  Figured a birthday card was in order and used the next Pinspired Challenge that used a beautiful and sparkly ombre look!  I will also be entering this in the Ombre Challenge by Moxie Fab World

For the background used the birthday sentiment from Lawn Fawn Hats Off to You set and stamped in various blues from the Blue Breeze Kaleidoscope inkpad.  Then used Lawn Cuts for the letters from Quinn's ABCs, copic colored for a pink ombre effect and used stickles Rock Candy for that sparkle effect.  The cupcake is from LF's Bake Me A Cake and the yellow background paper is from LFs Pink Lemonade petite paper pack.  Added a few more rhinestones for more sparkle!

Here is the pinspiration
If you're feeling pinspired the challenge is open til April 4th.  Come play along!

Took a pic to try to capture the sparkle in the letters and cupcake...

Hoping to sneak more crafty time in this weekend before all the festivities!  Here's a quick pic of these fun Easter treat bags made for my daughter's performance choir...she colored and glued them all together herself!

Mahalo for stopping by and have a great weekend!

What? No stamps?

This weeks CAS-ual Fridays Challenge was to not use any stamps...Whaaaat?!?  I LOVE a good challenge so it was game on!  Went through my stash and was stumped.  Uh, I don't think I've ever made something without stamps.  What to do...what to do?   Decided to go through my die cuts and came up with this...

Simply layered some flowers with vellum to give the bold pattern a little softness.

The pattern paper came from American Crafts Soho Garden collection...such pretty paper.  Can't believe the weekend has flown by!  Already looking forward to my next day off...hehe.  Hope everyone has a great week ahead!

With Sympathy

My aunt had asked for a few sympathy cards to keep in her stash, and I never really know which direction to go in.  I thought I'd use The Play Date Cafe: Amethyst, Emerald and Peridot to help create a card.  I sooo love this color combination!

I knew I wanted an amethyst colored card base, but wasn't sure how to get the other colors on such a deep card base.  Found out that stamping on vellum and layering on the card base really brings out the ink colors!  Added some peridot colored twine and silver heat embossed the sentiment.  Stamp set is from Fresh Squeezed Stamps Tickle My Fancy.

Here's the color story below...

Beautiful... isn't it?!?

Guess Whooo...

Hooray for the weekend!  This weekend could not have come any sooner as I've been itching to get at some more challenges.  I love playing over at Runway Inspired Challenge and this week's pic had sparkle, pink shimmer and black.  How do I put this all together you ask?  Here it is below...

And the RIC model pic...

I knew black would be my card base and wanted to incorporate the silver scaffolding behind the model.  You like my word "scaffold?" My dad would be so proud!  Anywho I loved that silver behind the model and thought the postage stamp frame (heat embossed in silver) would be a cool representation.  I wanted my sentiment to be a question like the model's top.  Of course the hot pink skirt was incorporated in ink choice for my sentiment and some silver rhinestones I colored with RV06 copic marker.  There you have it!

Have a great weekend!

Stitchwork

I've let a few days of nonblogging slip by with my mom being in the hospital.  Unfortunately I also caught a cold and lost my mojo...blah.  Luckily I could still craft as I had an order to fill for my coworker's parent's 60th wedding anniversary.  Here's a quick pic of a pillow box I decorated for their Vegas themed party!

Anyway my mom is back home now and continues to recover which makes me feel like I'll recover my mojo with more challenges like Lawnscaping Challenge: Stitching ! My mom would not be so proud of my "stitchwork" as she is an incredible seamstress, but I think she would find it cute.

I made my own background paper using So Much To Say.  Then die cut the heart and "stitched" the little edges with some Lawn Trimmings.  Fussy cut the Good Fortune pieces to place in the center and for a little faux stitching added that cute little zigzag look from Home Sweet Home.

Mahalo for stopping by!

Sunny Skies

Happy Saturday!  Hope everyone is having a great start to the weekend...I know I am with the new CAS-ual Fridays Challenge: Chipboard !  I've never used chipboard and was kinda intimidated by them.  I've had some in my stash just tucked away in the corner and decided to get crafty with them!

I couldn't believe my eyes on how this turned out!  I have a new love for chipboard as it was so easy to piece together and no cutting involved!  I just layed out the few pieces I had, and they kinda fit together like a puzzle.  I felt so accomplished...LOL.  I used the snow marker and heat embossed to make some puffy clouds.  Colored the sun's rays with a copic marker and used a circle punch for the center and stamped sentiment with Only You by CAS-ual Fridays Stamps...and BAM a finished card!!!

Hope you likey!

Splash of Color

Got a quick post playing with Fresh Squeezed Stamps to enter the next Pinspired Challenge that uses beautiful colors and triangular pattern that made me think of this umbrella.

I kinda wanted everything to be black and white to make the umbrella stand out.  Even popped up the front of the umbrella with foam tape.  Hoping the simplicity makes the colors and triangular shape stand out.

The quilt made me think cozy and lovey, kinda like the potty people together under the umbrella!

And a closeup...

So that's it for me!  HAPPY FRIDAY!

Talk Nerdy

I absolutely LOVED this weeks Runway Inspired Challenge as I have a little confession to make...I was the nerd in high school.  Not the nerd as in smart nerd, cause that would be something to boast about...hehe, but the nerd that danced her own tune.  The model totally made that semi-nerdy look and OWNED it...which is what I hope to aspire in my kiddos.  They truly own their quirkiness as in this photo.

Yup...that's my almost 7 year old getting ready to go grocery shopping.  My mom would have never let me go out like that, but my kids crack me up and I say, as long as they are fully clothed, why not?

So on to my card for the challenge...

I was inspired by the colors and couldn't get that one eyed monster out of my head and knew I HAD to use googly eyes.  I had these cute little ones with pink lids and thought it perfect for this absolutely fun stamp set by Unity Stamp Co.

I wanted to emphasize the striped sleeves and decided to cut down my card front panel.  Used the large yellow panel with sentiment to represent the skirt on the model.  I needed to take a few more photos to get the whole feel of the card...check them out below!

Sorry for all the pics, but couldn't figure out how to best showcase the card and how it was cut.  Hope everyone is having a great week so far!  Tomorrow is my day off so stay tuned for more crafty goodness!!

Happy

Happy is definitely how my hubby makes me feel on a daily basis.  He is always there to encourage me whether it's through a hard day at work or a card design I can't get a grasp of.  He was my inspiration in making this card and the sketch is from Freshly Made Sketches.

I've been playing with more pattern paper recently since my local craft store had an amazing sale.  I used the Studio Calico Here and There paper pad and fussy cut the skyline to add more interest.  I'm loving the potty people trend and had to incorporate them into the card!

Hoping my card is not too far off from the sketch!

Calling it a night.  Looking forward to Lain Ehman's True Stamp Class LIVE online.  I'll be up at 4am to hop online for an amazing lineup of stamping celebrities! It may not be too late to sign up True Stamp 2013

Hope everyone has a fabulous weekend and able to steal away some time to craft!

You Rock

I recently had a very pleasant surprise of winning a gift card over on Lynn's Craft Blog for Ben Franklin Crafts.  When I received it in the mail, I also had some cute goodies and was touched by her thoughtfulness that I had to show my appreciation and make a card using one of the goodies included!  I've mentioned before that I'm not very good at coloring, but there's something about it that makes me want to keep practicing.

This little gal (Hero Arts: You Rock wood mounted stamp) was colored and fussy cut and sitting on my desk just waiting for a design to pop in my head.  Wouldn't ya know it The Play Date Cafe had the same colors I used when coloring this cutie!  It was just meant to be and had this fun sentiment cut using my Sizzix e-clips from the All Occasions cartridge.  The background was done with Lawn Fawn's Teeny Tiny Backdrop.

Mahalo again to Lynn...YOU ROCK!

Smile

Today's card is made especially for Speech Bubble Challenge in the Moxie Fab World.  This trend is so fun to play with!  Here's my take...

Used Lawn Fawn's A Birdie Told Me for the speech bubble (Lawn Cuts used to die cut image) and a bunch of happy faces from various Lawn Fawn stamp sets.  Pattern paper from Lawn Fawn's Pink Lemonade petite paper pad and even cut out a flower from the pattern paper added with a purple pearl and some purple hemp.  Sentiment from CAS-ual Fridays Calm and Gentle.

Hope everyone is having a great week!

P.S.- Chari had an AMAZINGLY epic card using a speech bubble.  Thought I'd share because I LOVED it soooo much!

Gettin' Washi

It is getting super late, but I had to get in on the fun for the Washi Tape Challenge in the Moxie Fab World!
For some reason I was on the black and pink fix.  I chose 3 of my favorite washi tapes and die cut some letters.  I really wanted to display the actual tape so added strips of them.  I really like using the washi tapes on dark colored cardstock and then stamping sentiments on them...much faster than having to heat emboss!  Just be sure to use an ink that will show up on the washi.  I used Staz On in Jet Black and stamped twice for a bolder look.

Here it is below...

Thanks so much for stopping by!  If you like what you see feel free to browse around my blog.  Become a follower if you want a direct posting to your reader!  Have a great day!

Going wild!

Let me just tell you I had a heck of a Monday and all I could think about was getting inky with the new Lawnscaping Challenge: Texture!  The design team had some amazing cards so I knew I had to really bring my A game.  I've been wanting to play with more of my new Lawn Fawn stamps so this is what I produced...

So for my textures I used an embossing folder, washi tape (for the letters) and sequins with rhinestones in the middle!   Lawn cuts (matching dies to the stamps) are sooooo fun and made it sooooo easy to cut out Quinn's ABCs and the cute little zebra.

A closeup to capture the layering of the sequins...that happened by accident when they all dumped out on my table and landed on each other and made me go...WOW...love it!

Here's hoping for a better Tuesday!

Applying for Sister Act DT

So being on a design team is my main goal for this year.  As you can see I'm new to the blogging world, but have crafted since grade school!  I have committed myself to entering various challenges to help me learn about the creative process and the various styles out there.  Bottom line though...I LOVE CHALLENGES!  Also trying to find myself (for lack of better words)...hehehe...trying to figure out MY style.

When I saw this post by Sister Act Card Challenge I knew I had to jump on it!  An anything goes challenge was music to my ears since I feel like I dabble in all sorts of styles.  From whimsical scene building to CAS to party favors...I love anything papercrafting!  Crossing my fingers I'm a fit for this new design team!  If you're wanting to apply as well just click on the link for more info!

Now to pick my 3 favorite cards.  Hmmm, decisions...decisions.  Here they are in no particular order...hehe

I was honored with Fabulous Fashionista over at Runway Inspired Challenge

This won Honorable Gnome over at Lawnscaping Challenge...I told you I was into challenges!

And the last one...

Unfortunately this didn't win anything, but it did get a lot of views over at Tuesday Trigger.

I do have quite a bit more so feel free to browse around my blog!  As you can see I'm pretty dedicated and loving this journey!  MAHALO for your time!

...Continuation

...continuation since I needed separate links for CAS(E) this Sketch...

Oh how I LOVE Easter and the pastel colors!  I have a thing for bunnies too as I've had a few.  Even bought one a plane ticket from Colorado to move back home to Hawaii with me...but I digress.

Here's the closeup...

I'm going to have to remember this sketch as it makes cards super fast and easy!  Thanks for stopping by!!

A Two-Fer

Ok so I was on a roll with the next CAS(E) this Sketch that I ended up with 2 cards!  The first card seemed too easy and I almost felt like I was cheating.  Check it...

I'd been wanting to use this cute washi tape for some time now and finally found it fitting.  The sun is from Lawn Fawn's Sunny Skies paper pieced using their Pink Lemonade paper.  The sentiment is from Fresh Squeezed Stamps You Said it Sister.  Easy Peasy!

And a closeup...

The card based on this sketch.

Here is my next take using the new Lawn Fawn's Happy Easter...I'm in love with it!

Just Breathe

Needed another card today for a patient of mine that is awaiting test results.  As much as I love to play with stamps and paper, I truly love my career as a nurse.  I'm finding with this blog and my job (hehe they rhyme), my goals are the same...making people happy!  I based my card off of this week's theme CAS-ual Fridays: Wallpaper

I'm loving CAS-ual Fridays Stamps to do all my encouraging with my patients.  They have the perfect sentiments. I don't know about you, but when I get new stamps I can spend hours just stamping away, which led me to use the cute little diamonds in the Only You collection.  I went to town with that little set of 3 diamonds and went for the ombre look that is so popular these days.

Below you'll find the main products used and the little stamp that created the fun wallpaper!

See the little diamonds on the right!  It got a lot of inky love!  Hope everyone has a great weekend and praying for my patient to "Just Breathe."

More to Love!
