Using my stash...

In an effort to stop hoarding my craft supplies I decided it's time to tackle the mountain of paper pads I've collected...

I was inspired by this week's Sweet Stamp Shop Challenge: Use What You Have! and the colors and design inspired by this week's Tuesday Trigger

I decided to tackle the mound from the top and it was just meant to be.  The paper matched the colors and even had a paint-like pattern to it like the trigger picture above!

Sweet Stamp Shop Sweet Spring and sentiment from Get Fit, American Crafts Color Crush Paper Pad, Woodgrain Washi Tape, Memento Tuxedo Black and Peanut Brittle Ink, Copic markers and foam tape

I stamped and masked the lilies directly on the pattern paper then colored the leaves in with copic markers.  The pinkish lillies are paper pieced and foam taped while the blue and honey colored lillies are colored in.  I had that cute little birdie pattern paper and decided to cut them out and foam tape to the scene. There's still time to enter the Sweet Stamp Shop Challenge so hop on over for the details.  Word is, if there's more entries Mrs. Sweet will pick 2 winners!

Hope everyone is having a great weekend!

Summer...where did you go?

So my summer ends in another week since my kids will be starting school.  In this household that means scheduled dinners, bathtime and bedtime.  It's bitter sweet for me...the kids will be in bed sooner which hopefully means more crafting time for me, but on the other hand that means early morning wake up calls and morning traffic, ugh why does summer have to end so quickly?!?

In my longing to hold on to summer I decided to make my next card based on a few challenges.  I loved the blooms seen in the next Pinspired Challenge and followed the sketch from Freshly Made Sketches which also fits the Timeless Twine: Tags and Twine Challenge

Jessica Swift Blomma paper pad, Timeless Twine Olive, Avery Elle-ments Simply Tags Everyday die and SRM sticker for sentiment

I loved the colors seen in the Pinspired Challenge from peaches and pinks to oranges and touch of green.  It's hard to see, but the solid colored cardstock behind the tag has an ombre effect, kinda like the blooms in the pic below.

  Following this sketch...

And playing along with Timeless Twine for the first time introduced by fellow blogger Amy Tsuruta...mahalo Amy!

That's it for me...as always thanks for taking the time to stop by!

Kitty Bee Design Challenge: Summer

It's another HAPPY ALOHA FRIDAY and I'm back for more inspiration with Kitty Bee Designs!  Around here summer time consists of kids always gathering at our house for play dates and sleep overs and I always like to have a little something to send them home with.  Bubbles are my go-to because they're inexpensive and can entertain the kids for hours.  I thought I'd jazz it up by adding one of my favorite images from Kitty Bee Designs.

Of course it's just a little sneak peek so to see the complete project please hop on over to Kitty Bee Designs Blog and tell me what ya think!  Mahalo and have a great weekend!

Where did my weekend go?

Not quite sure where my weekend went, but it's Monday and I'm already looking forward to my next day off...hehe.  I'll be sending my in-laws off later today and it's back to the real world and work for me.  I can't believe how much older my nieces and nephews are.  All teenagers and entering high school!  I remember them being flower girls and ring bearer for my wedding...gasp I'm feeling old!

Anyway I got to make a card for this month's Avery Elle's challenge following a very cool picture!

Avery Elle Oh Happy Day, AE Handwritten Notes, Memento Bahama Blue, Rose Bud and Dandelion Ink, VersaMagic Cloud White Ink

I was drawn to the arrows and decided to take its colors and make my sentiment their colors and mask the arrow.  I really wanted to emphasize the color and stamped the sentiment first in cloud white ink and then again in the colored Memento inks.  I did it on the slant as the arrows were slanted in the cup.

Here's the cool pic...

Hope everyone has a great week and mahalo for stopping by!

Snuck away...

This is a quick post as I snuck away from the in-laws to enter this week's CAS(E) this Sketch.  Not much to explain...just a bunch of hexagon shapes made with my E-Clips machine and stamping!

Fresh Squeezed Stamps You Said It Sister, FSS Tickle My Fancy, Hexagon shapes and shadow, Memento Ink Teal Zeal, American Crafts twine

I love peacock feathers!  Something about their colors and frilliness.  I remember the first time I saw a peacock feather just lying on the ground at the zoo and couldn't get over the beauty of it.

Here's the sketch...

Thanks for stopping by!  Can't believe it's the end of the week already...YAY for the weekend!  Hope to get more crafting done.  I know I said I'd be back with more of that fun emboss resist technique, but after a few hours of trying to get a design right, I gave up and it's back to the drawing board for me!  Stay tuned though!

Polka Dot Fun

Thanks to the hubby I was able to sneak away and play!  I wanted to try this cool technique still using the emboss resist and layer stamping.  Decided to go with the polka dot sketch and will be entering my homework into this week's CAS-ual Fridays Challenge

Fresh Squeezed Stamps Breath of Fresh Flair, FSS Everyday Expressions, Memento Ink in Pear Tart, Cottage Ivy and Rich Cocoa, Versamark, Clear Embossing Powder, Distress Marker in Tumbled Glass

I did a lot of masking and layered stamping keeping to the colors provided by the Online Card Class:  Summer Card Camp 2.  Super fun and will be sharing more of this technique as I have tons of ideas on various stamps in my collection to try!   As always MAHALO for stopping by!

P.S.- There's still time to play along with us over at Kitty Bee Designs and submit any project with a CONGRATS theme!

Fun times!

So I may be MIA this week as my in-laws and 4 nieces and nephews are flying in tonight.  Of course I need to stay on top of my homework from Online Card Classes: Summer Card Camp 2.  I'm learning so much and get super excited to come home from work and play...of course once the kids are asleep!  Here's my homework...

Of course I had to put my own little spin on it and make the sentiment Hawaiian.  I used a background stamp to create the emboss resist technique and followed the color swatches for this week.  My hubby said it's not really Hawaiian without a flower background, but I was going for more of a masculine touch.  Anyway hope everyone's week is off to a great start and I hope to be back soon!

Doing homework!

So I've neglected some of my homework for the Online Card Class: Summer Card Camp 2, but trying to get caught up this weekend since I'm not oncall...YAY!  I incorporated the colors from the class to follow this week's CAS(E) this Sketch Challenge

Gray CS, Butter CS, My Clever Creations homemade frame, Fresh Squeezed Stamps You Said It Sister, Doodlebug Flutter Friends, Hero Arts Wet Cement Shadow Ink, Studio G sky blue chalk ink, needle pins

Following this sketch...

I had been hoarding that frame for a while and found it perfect for my take on the sketch! This is a quick post before I head to bed...finally!  Hope everyone's weekend is going well and MAHALO for stopping by!

Turning One...a big deal in Hawaii!

**Disclaimer...it's a long post due to editing!

Hello friends!  So I had a very productive day of running errands and going school supply shopping!  Anyone else look forward to this?  Now that both my kids will be going to school we had double the list and of course I got more than the list required...eek...I have a thing for office supplies.  Thank goodness for good sales!

On to my card.  My coworker is celebrating her grandson's first birthday and here in Hawaii it is a big deal!  It's an even bigger deal because they are flying in from Arizona to celebrate.  The party is going to be huge with a bouncy house, magic show, face painting and even a shaved ice truck to get the kids all sugared up!  The theme is zoo animals and of course I grabbed my Lawn Fawn set, paper pad and trimmings and went to town using the Birthday Sketch Challenge in the Moxie Fab World

I absolutely LOVE the way this turned out.  My husband had the bright idea to use the negative space of the cut out "1" and have the animals peeking out.  The three animals to represent the three squares in the sketch.  This was achieved with a lot of foam tape.  Here's the closeup

That's my own handwriting on the side to give it a little special touch.  Here's the sketch design and if inspired come play along!

Have a very Happy Thursday!  Tomorrow I'll be playing with Kitty Bee Designs again and you won't want to miss it!  Mahalo for stopping by!!

P.S.- Just re-read the Moxie Fab Challenge and forgot the part about all stamps or none at all.  I think it's back to the drawing board on this one!

**Edited at 2:15AM because I was determined to follow the rules...

Lawn Fawn Interlocking Backdrops, LF Critters on the Savannah, LF Bake Me a Cake, LF Sweet Christmas, LF Sally's ABCs, LF Claire's ABCs

This was all done using the same design as my first card with A LOT of masking!  Totally worth staying up to do as I can now go to bed knowing that I followed the rules...hehehe

Procrastinating

Happy Hump Day gang!  It's only day 2 of the Online Card Class:  Summer Card Camp 2 and I've been completely inspired by all the fun designs and techniques.  I made a card that needs to get out to my Colorado sister.  She celebrated her 6 year anniversary over the weekend, and was the inspiration in making this festive card with some techniques I learned.

Fresh Squeezed Stamps Words to Live By, FSS Breath of Fresh Flair, Memento Inks in Rose Bud, Tangelo, Bahama Blue and Pear Tart, Sizzix Chevron Embossing Folder, Archival Ink Jet Black, White CS

The card seems simple, but let me tell you this was my third try in getting the painted/streaky look down.  I wanted that to be my focal point so kept the background simple with the white chevron embossed background.

That's it for me. It's my day off, but I've got a list of things to do about a mile long.  Hope you guys are all having a very crafty week!

Kitty Bee Designs Challenge #3 Congratulations

Happy Aloha Friday friends!  I'm back for more fun playing with Kitty Bee Designs. I adore playing with Kitty Bee Design stamps and the digis are fun as well because I can make them any size I want!  This was perfect for playing with Shrink Film.  So the idea came from my daughter asking for a bracelet with the Kitty Bee Designs digis and I kept thinking...a bracelet?!?

Well you'll have to see for yourself and head on over to the blog!  Here's a sneak peek...

This is a little surprise CONGRATS gift for my girl who is playing the part of Slick Cat in the Disney Musical Jr. Aristocats.  She has practiced so hard for her 5 little lines and I'm one proud mama!  This is just a sneak peek so you'll want to head on over to Kitty Bee Designs and as always I promise it will make you smile!  I'd like to explain more, but that would give it away.  Any questions on how to make something like this, just leave me a comment and I'd be more than happy to answer!  Have a great weekend!!!

Feeling Productive!

Aloha Friends!  I was super blessed by an incredibly crafty day and I'm super excited about joining the Online Card Classes: Summer Card Camp 2!  They have a great lineup of designers for the entire month and I can hardly wait.  They had an awesome sketch to follow for their Pre-Class Challenge 1&2 and it just so happens to also follow along the color scheme of the next Pinspired Challenge

Kitty Bee Design Floatie Penguin, Lawn Fawn A Birdie Told Me, Amy Tangerine Yes Please paper pad, Inktense Watercolor Pencils, Memento Tuxedo Black Ink, Glossy Accents, foam tape, atYou Spica glitter pen in Black

Here's the pinspiration photo

I loved the summery feel of the picture and the colors.  The little penguin was perfect for my outdoorsy feel and I had to show a closeup as I stamped the image 3 times to get the layers right.

Isn't that penguin just ADORABLE!?!  Soooo much fun to color and layer for dimension!  That's it for me.  I really should be working on filling some orders, but I couldn't resist another challenge!  HAPPY WEDNESDAY!
