The Evolution of my Card...

Oh boy did I make a mess of my craft desk!  It all started with needing a thank you card to give a coworker and I was trying to go for a more masculine feel.  Thus began the plaid look...also keeping in mind I wanted to enter the next Lawnscaping Challenge: Stars and Stripes.

This is where my journey began...painstackingly inking up that fun border to create a stripey/plaid background.  Now what?!  You can tell it wasn't perfectly stamped so I knew I needed to add something to draw your attention away from that fact.  I knew I wanted to use the die cut scripty thanks, but it needed more...

Here's the mess I created figuring things out...

Again keeping in mind I needed stars, I wanted to use the Lawn Fawn Life is Good starfish!

The die cut comes out so cute!  I first tried cutting a strip of paper to pop the die cut thanks, but it just wasn't enough.  Finally I realized I could add a journaling card and also enter the next Moxie Fab: Photo Pocket Page Challenge: Journaling Cards!  (challenges are so great that way) So the lightbulb went on and I focused on making a journaling card.

And the finished product...

Lawn Fawn Stitched Journaling Card, Lawn Fawn Scripty Thanks, Lawn Fawn Life is Good
Lawn Fawn pattern paper, Hero Arts Shadow Ink in Cup O' Joe and Soft Sand

Ok so I ended up nixing the plaid stamped background, because it just didn't work with my journaling card!  I'll definitely save it for later though.  I couldn't decide which yellow background paper to use so....why not both!?  It killed me not to put a little smiley face on the sun and some sparkle or some sequins, but since it's for a guy I figured best to leave it alone.

Okey dokey...that's it for me!  Mahalo for stopping by!!

Woo hoo...another card!

Making this short as I realized I only have 2 more hours to enter the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge: Stencil It!

The card...

Hero Arts Bubble Confetti Stencil, Hero Arts Live Life,
Shadow inks in Pool, Tide Pool and Stone Wash
Hero Hues ink in Unicorn, Lawn Fawn Into the Woods pattern paper,
white embossing powder

I was going for the bokeh effect for the next A Blog Named Hero Challenge as well.  Started with the Unicorn ink and then slightly moved the stencil for the ombre effect of inks.  The panel is foam taped to the card front for dimension.

It feels good to start up card making again!  Mahalo for stopping by!!

Sooo hard!

Can anyone tell me why it is so hard to get back into the swing of things?!  I've not blogged in about a month and it's killing me!  I had 14 in-laws staying with us, the hubby and I had a mini vacay to celebrate our 10 year anni and days have gone by without any kind of crafting.  I don't really have an excuse anymore so I decided to just sit at my desk and force myself to make something!

I've been loving the inspiration in blogland, but why oh why can I not get out of this funk?!  Luckily my coworker placed an order for some cards and I got to work!

Lawn Fawn Louie's 123s die, Lawn Fawn Clark's ABCs, Lawn Fawn Hats Off to You
Delicata Gold ink and copics

Graduation party season is in full effect here so I've got tons of cards to make.  I needed to come up with a design that was easy to make multiples of and just change the colors of the background and the die cut numbers according to their school.  I wished the Delicata ink showed up better in the pic.

For my next card...

Memory Box Modern Landscaping die, Avery Elle Custom Panels die, Doodlebug Design pixie stick and flag,
Fresh Squeezed Stamp Father Knows Best, Sizzix circle die, Cuttlebug embossing folder, Distress Markers

So my coworker also wanted a golf themed Father's Day card and can you believe I didn't have a stamp set with that theme so I improvised a little.  With only having an evening to complete her order and using what I had, I think it's not too shabby.

I feel a little rusty jumping back into this after a month, but practice makes perfect right?!!

Mahalo for stopping by.  Thanks to my bloggy friends for checking in on me!  I promise I'll get back into the swing of things!!!

More to Love!
