Create your own coloring page!

Happy Monday Friends!

If you're on Facebook I would love it if you "LIKED" the A Blog Named Hero page. You'll be updated with the latest A Blog Named Hero challenges, trends and happenings with Hero Arts!  We can even interact if you ever have any questions on your Hero Arts projects!

Today I'm creating a card for the Lasting Hearts Card Drive.  When I first heard about the cause, it really tugged at my heart strings as I've experienced 2 miscarriages.  I'm definitely blessed though by my 2 little miracles and would love to share hope with the thousands of moms out there that are, or have been struggling.  Prayer was huge for me and I think the Hero Arts collab with Simon Says Stamp set Prayers is the perfect sentiment to use.  It is definitely one of my favorites!

I wanted to create my own coloring page and first started with watercolor paper and stamped the butterflies from the Hero Arts Stamp and Cut Butterflies multiple times with Versamark ink then covered with Hero Arts Silver Embossing powder and heated.  I think the embossing helps to keep my watercoloring (with Gansai Tambi 36 color set) in the lines and gives a pretty shine.  To create the blue wash I masked each butterfly with masking fluid, allowed to dry and went over it with a large brush keeping the blue heavier at the top then the bottom to allow my sentiment to stand out.  I die cut the word and adhered to vellum and stamped out the top sentiment with Hero Arts India Ink Black.

The closeup shows the silver embossing a little better and the die cut sentiment on vellum.

Just Because with matching Hero Arts envelopes

If you're joining me from A Blog Named Hero's Facebook page welcome!
Who still has out their Christmas stash?  I've been struggling with putting away everything Christmas (because I'd rather create than clean up).  Since I had a bunch of my Hero Arts Christmas sets out I decided to go ahead and make another card set (trying to keep to my goal of making more than one card at a time). Today I'm playing with the Hero Arts Sparkle Borders set.  A very versatile and fun set that can be used year round!

I stamped the lanterns with Versamark ink and used Hero Arts Gold and Silver Embossing Powder and Tombow markers to color in the lanterns.  To create the background colors I used the Fineline Masking Fluid Pen over each lantern and allowed to dry.  The blue background was created using ink smooshing (Tombow marker scribbled on craft mat, spritz a few times with water and then smoosh the watercolor paper into the ink).  The yellow background was brushed on using Tombow yellow marker, spritzed with water than using a flat paint brush.  Once dry, I was able to peel off the masking fluid with ease to reveal the perfectly preserved lanterns.

And just for fun I went with Distress Inks and Hero Arts India Ink Black (this ink doesn't bleed with watercolors).  This time I didn't mask the lanterns.  Instead I used a clean brush dipped in water and took away color with just water and a paper towel to each lantern.  The background color lightened enough to color in with a yellow Tombow marker.

For Christmas I got the awesome Hero Arts colored envelopes and I'm in love.  There's something about colored envelopes that takes your card to a whole other level!  I love that there are different shades for each color and they go with matching Hero Arts Shadow inks as well to give a sweet tone on tone look if you feel like stamping them.

So that's it for me today!  There's a fun challenge going on over at A Blog Named Hero.  Create a one layer card and link it up for your chance to win a prize by their sponsor for the month!

Girly Sparkly Thanks for a2z Scrapbooking

Happy New Year!

I'm over at
a2z Scrapbooking
with a fun challenge to start up the New Year!

Now's the time to use everything that sparkles in your crafty place.
We're talking about glitter, gemstones, metallic embossing powders...
anything that will make your project sparkle!

Here's my girly, sparkly card...

This card came together quickly using the Hero Arts Blush Folded Cards for my base and adding double sided sticky tape 3 times.  I poured Ranger Distress Glitter in Platinum over the sticky tape and rubbed the glitter in with a scratch piece of paper and a bone folder to make sure the glitter was completely adhered.

I inked up that beautiful font sentiment from Hero Arts Cheers Messages by Lia
and heat embossed using Hero Arts Platinum Embossing Powder.
I added the same embossing powder to the edges of Hero Arts White and Cream Print Flowers using a Versamarker and heat set.  Of course for more bling I used Hero Arts Pale Pink Gemstones.

Here's a closeup...
